Ready to Fly

Description

Ready to Fly is the sophomore album by the Canadian born, UK based singer and songwriter Barry Crompton, released in the UK on Kingsway Music in 1979. The album was recorded by Dave Aston at ICC Studios in Eastbourne, England; with Les Moir producing.

A few heavier edges can be found here on Barry’s sophomore release. Bryn Haworth’s buzzing slide guitar brings a nice Clapton-esque tone to the title song. «The Rock» has Barry trifling with a rock-n-roll sound. Same goes for the bluesy closing track «Jesus Is The Remedy» where Bryn reappears on slide. «Standing In Your Love» and «Try A Little Love» fall into the light-rock category. The remaining songs echo the quiet appealing style of his first LP. Interesting jet-fighter cover art. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
