Description
Walkin’ in Faith is the sophomore album by the Canadian hard rock/metal band project Angelica (the brainchild of Canadian guitarist/songwriter Dennis Cameron), released on Intense Records in 1990, a division of Frontline Music Group, distributed by The Benson Company. The album was recorded by Daryl Wicker at GCC Production House in Bradenton, Florida; and was produced and arranged by guitarist Dennis Cameron, with Wicker co-producing. Mixed by Cameron, Wicker, and Scott Seehower.
With a permanent vocalist and bass player behind him, (Yes, all the drums were programmed) guitarist Dennis Cameron has achieved a very solid follow-up to the ‘Angelica‘ debut album. While last year’s effort suffered somewhat from inconsistent songwriting, this project remains at a pretty even keel from song to song.
The obvious highlight of the album is the outstanding virtuoso guitar playing by Cameron, yet the songs weren’t written to simply show off his hottest licks – that’s reserved for the instrumental, «Harvest». The songs have lots of hooks and direction, but the weakest link is probably the register and tempo in which the songs are written, which cause vocalist Jerome Mazza to sing at what appears to border on his comfortable range. Given a chance to get together, Angelica has the potential to really put out some exceptional commercial metal. It seems the band is still one step away. [Doug Van Pelt, CCM, November 1990]
