Description
Secret Service is the sophomore solo album by the British singer and songwriter Iva Twydell of After The Fire fame, independently released on Banana Records in 1981, in conjunction with Redsky Music (A Banana Music Record Production in Conjunction with Redsky Music), distributed by Kingsway Music. The album was recorded and mixed during February and March 1981 at Profile Studios in Wheathampstead, England (the studio of Banana Records owner Steve Kendall), with Iva Twydell producing. Arranged by Mr. T and band. All songs written by Iva Twydell except “Cover Me” co-written with Banford.
Iva Twydell provided lead vocals and played guitar, flute and synthesizer. Among the musicians are Graham Noon of Skyrider fame on keyboards, Tim Burgess and Dave & Andy Balmer of Solid Air (who’s album Take A Little Interest had been recorded at the same studio the previous year, with Twydell producing). As well featuring a rhythm section consisting of Tony Hudson and Nick Brotherwood on bass and drums respectively, both formerly of the Mighty Flyers as well as the Alwyn Wall Band. (Trivia: Nick Brotherwood actually took over briefly for Twydell when he left After The Fire in October 1979 just after the release of their new wave/synth rock album Laser Love.)
