Description
The self-titled album by the US established but UK based rock band The Sheep was released in the UK on Myrrh Gold in 1973, a division of Word. (It was the first album released on Word UK’s Myrrh Gold imprint, featuring catalogue number MYR 1000.) The album was recorded and mixed by Mike Marsh and Nick Kinsey at Livingston Studios in London, England; with Bobbie Graham producing. Album coordination by Jim Palosaari and Graham. All songs written and arranged by the band.
Featuring Greg Nancarrow (vocals, piano, organ, rhythm and lead guitar), “Mole” Barker (vocals, harmonica, lead and rhythm guitar), Rich Haas (vocals and percussion), Reed Mittelsteadt (vocals), Lisa Carothers (vocals, piano, organ), Wilhelm Pinnow (bass), and Nick Malham (percussion).
Two of the songs on the self-titled album, “Lonesome Stone” and “Changes”, were also included in the rock musical Lonesome Stone first staged at the Rainbow Theatre in London during the summer of 1973. (The previous year the band actually did record an album in Finland entitled Jeesus Rock! (Finnlevy 1972), featuring four out of twelve songs sung in Finnish; the album cover lists the band name in Finnish as well, “Karitsat”.)
