My Friend Stephanie – Makeover

Description

Makeover is the debut album by the American alternative rock band My Friend Stephanie, released on Innocent Media in 1996, distributed by Diamante Music Group. The album was produced by Bill Campbell of The Throes fame.

A new name in Christian music and a new name I hope we’ll be hearing more of in the future. This album is musically close in many places to the modern rock of various chart bands. Lyrics major mostly on relationships on a human level although «Embrace» has one of the more blatant directed towards God. Pick of the songs include «Maybe», «Why» and «Forever Yours». Give this album one or two listens and choruses will latch on to your brain. However, I feel some songs go on a bit, eg, «Everything Has A Reason». The song «I’ll See Ya» also treads on thin ice with the lyric, “I’d rather live in hell with you than to live one day apart,” but perhaps I’m being too picky. When it comes to the crunch, is it worth getting you to cry! If you like the modern rock of the charts and you’re looking for a band who won’t kick you in the teeth lyrically (and spiritually!) like secular groups do then give these guys a try.
