Let It Shine

Let It Shine is the fourth album by the American soft rock band The Sharretts (brothers Fred, Ed and Bob Sharrett), released on DaySpring Records in 1981, a division of Word. The album was recorded by Billy Taylor (tracks) at Mama Jo’s Recording Studio in North Hollywood, by Jack Joseph Puig (strings, horns, and vocals, as well as mixdown) at Martinsound Studios in Alhambra and The L.A. Studios, and by Don Holden (overdubs) at The Hit Man Recording in West Hollywood, California; with David Diggs of Good News fame producing and arranging. “Your are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden … In the same way, let your light shine before men …” (Matthew 5:14 and 16)

All vocals performed by The Sharretts. The vocal group is backed by a session band featuring producer David Diggs on keyboards and Prophet 5 synthesizer (and as well providing percussion), Paul Jackson, Jr. on guitar, Dennis Belfield on bass, and Ed Greene on drums. Saxophone and flute played by Jim Cole and trumpets played by Danny Ackerman and Terry Winch. Strings provided by The Doug Cameron String Section.
