I Guess I Love It

Description

I Guess I Love It is the third album by the American singer and songwriter Judson Spence, released on Pioneer Entertainment in 2000. The album was recorded by Judson Spence at various studios in Tennessee, with additional recordings by Bernie Leadon of The Eagles fame. Produced by Judson Spence and Bernie Leadon. Mixed by J.R. McNeely at Sound Kitchen in Franklin, Tennessee. I Guess I Love It was voted Album of the Year by Natural Progressions (an Eagles fanzine) on the strength of a pre-release review copy.

Wynonna Judd did a cover of Judson Spence’s song “New Day Dawning”, a track featured on I Guess I Love It, and it also became the title track to her 2000 album.

In 1987, a 21-year-old Judson Spence hit Nashville. A year later he had a Top 20 hit with «Yeah, Yeah, Yeah». After fits and starts in the music industry, Spence teamed up with Eagles guitarist Bernie Leadon to produce ‘I Guess I Love It’, Spence’s first release in nearly four years. The album’s songs encompass a wide spectrum from the pop genre: there’s the smoky dance tune, «Bossanovanight», the free-associative jaunt of «N.Y.C.» and the ‘Revolver’-esque title track. When Spence plays to his strengths – his impressive voice is classic blue-eyed soul – this Pascagoula, Mississippi-born singer pays homage to Marvin Gaye’s vocal stylings better than anyone in recent memory.
