Description
The Best of Christian Grit, labeled 12 Artists/24 Songs, Two-Record Set with Biographies, is a multi-artist double album compilation released on NewPax Records in 1977, distributed by Word. (This was the label’s fifteenth release of their NP/PR-33000 Series, Catalog Number NP-33015.) It is kind of the equivalent to Myrrh Records’ Jubilation! Series released around the same time.
The Best of Christian Grit
24 Contemporary Christian Message SongsI, and my contemporaries, are veterans of revolts, dispare and “the search” and music has always been the voice for what we meant and what we wanted. It still is!
With the advent of Jesus Rock, however the voice doesn’t ask what and where anymore. Rather, it tells who and why and just how it is. The revolution is still alive in Him.
If you’re like me, then this album won’t be what you expect. Rather than pictures of heavenly glades dotted with gossmer clouds and pink flowers, you’ll be treated with the rather earthy panorama of “Son-Rise” over asphalt and concrete gutters. If you’ve been there you know what it’s like… if not, you should.
This is music from the street of sinners and saints not much removed… if at all. It’s meant to make you move. Not just up… but out!
