Get It

Description

Get It is the debut album by the American hard rock band X-Sinner, released on Pakaderm Records in 1989, manufactured and distributed by Word. The album was recorded and mixed by John Elefante, Dino Elefante, and Mike Mierau at Pakaderm Studios in Los Alamitos, California; with the Elefante brothers producing.

Oww! Hey all you closet AC/DC fans: Get out your air guitars and rock along with some of the best street-level metal in Christendom. If you like music with lots of power chords, this album will keep you rolling through the next year. X-Sinner has been receiving lots of hype prior to this release, and this album lives up to all of it.

«Medicine» starts off this rompin’ and stompin’ release with a straight-ahead groove that shows the general direction for all 10 songs (save perhaps «Livin’ on the Edge», which sports a more commercial, Def Leppard sound.)

The production is solid, featuring a hot drum sound, guitars all over the mix, and upfront vocals.

X-Sinner cranks out a predominantly adolescent sound, but does it well. Songs like «Get It» have repetitive lyrics, yet come off with such punch and raw energy that you can’t help but love it. [Doug Van Pelt, CCM, January 1990]

X-Sinner are the band that everyone in the white metal world are talking about right now. This, their debut release is produced by John and Dino Elfante, two of the most successful Christian producers. One of the strange things about this band is that their song titles are more overtly Christian than the lyrical content. However, the band can clearly be seen to be Christian. X-Sinner make good use of humour which is a welcome change for white metal music, with lyrics like “Me and my lady, we see eye to eye, we are both five foot nine”. The band also talk about catching a cold at work on the song «Medicine» which is probably the best song on the album. Musically X-Sinner are obviously influenced by AC/DC and at times Def Leppard. The album is blessed by excellent production with a good up front guitar sound and clear vocals. This has to be one of the best white metal albums for some time. It is good to hear good Christian rock ‘n’ roll based metal. The only problem I have with the band is their name – far too cliched for me, and probably a lot of unsaved metal fans, to handle. [Dave Williams, Cross Rhythms, May 1990]
