Very Best of Bride is a compilation album by the American hard rock band Bride, released on StarSong Records in October 2006, manufactured by EMI CMG Label Group.
Bride were one of the first Christian metal bands who took their gig to the end at the nadir of the last century. This 12-cut best-of offers an aural view of why Bride should have crossed over; if Stryper got notoriety, this band should have gone platinum. Everything that was fun about ’80s and ’90s metal is best signified here with the burning guitar attack and the chanted vocals that put Mötley Crüe to shame. Given that this set virtually spans Bride’s entire recording career (an argument for a double-disc anthology would have been valid) it contains the great songwriting magic of brothers Dale and Troy Thompson and their manner of shifting their sound just a tad each time as the band matured. Great production values, fine riffs and hooks, and excellent words make this one a winner. [Thom Jurek, AMG]
