Silence is Madness is the third album by the American hard rock band Bride, released on Pure Metal Records in 1989, a division of Refuge Music Group. The album was produced and engineered by Armand John Petri.
Bride’s third album is its finest, due to the stylistic cohesiveness and the apparent maturing of Dale Thompson’s vocals. There’s less high-pitched wails here and plenty of raw, gritty singing.
«Fool Me Once» starts things going with some rapid-fired snare drumming. Fans used to Bride’s speedy delivery in concert will love this one.
«Hot Down South Tonight» introduces some new Bride sounds, while treading new ground for Christian metal. Mainstream comparisons could be found in a hybrid of The Cult and INXS.
«Until the End We Rock» has its moments, but sounds too thick in places. Overlooking this song, producer John Petri did a good job presenting Bride’s sound with raw energy.
«Rock Those Blues Away» is a definite departure, offering some harmonica riffs and gritty, Southern-rockin’ blues vocals with a little organ – sounding like a Sunday night at church with Bride. Git down! [Doug Van Pelt, CCM, January 1990]
