Friend of Mine

Description

Friend of Mine is the sophomore album by the American singer and songwriter Ed Drake, independently released on Holy Kiss Records in 1977, manufactured and distributed by Hartsong Corporation, California. The album was recorded and mixed by Travis Turk at Ironside Recording Studio in Nashville, Tennessee; with Randy and Monty Matthews producing for Holy Kiss Productions. All songs written by Ed Drake. Featuring the Grammy Award winner Randy Goodrum on keyboards as well as Mike Johnson on bass and electric guitar.

A more fully arranged work that includes Mike Johnson on bass and electric guitar, along with the Matthews boys (Randy and Monty) on background vocals. «As I Walk These Roads», «Come On Back» and the title cut all have a goodhearted mid-tempo rural stroll ala Bob Seager. Also a decent Matthews/Johnson-type rocker in «Walk The Talk». Easy light jazz moods with sax on «What Do You Do» and «Tick Tock». A number of ballads fill out the LP. On the collectible Holy Kiss label. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
