Description
California Metal – Volume II is a multi-artist compilation featuring various American metal bands, released on Regency Records in 1988. It is considered a follow-up to the California Metal compilation released the previous year.
This album is an improvement over the ground breaking ‘California Metal‘ album, offering a cohesive direction of melodic metal featuring: Judea, Recon and Mastedon.
«Light the Fire» by Recon features quick pace and piercing vocals.
«Knock» by Judea has superlative background vocals throughout, as well as a happenin’ groove.
«Get Up» by Mastedon shows off that wonderful voice of John Elefante that’s been inactive too long. The Elefante brothers, doing an immaculate job throughout, did the best job of producing on their cut.
Ransom’s lead singer, Lisa Fazon, proves that girls can sing heavy metal – and sing it great!
Those of you who liked early Stryper will love this album. It’s absolutely a killer! [Doug Van Pelt, CCM, February 1989]
