Description
The self-titled debut album by the American singer, songwriter, and keyboardist Tom Autry was released on StarSong Records in 1975 as the label’s very first effort. The album was recorded and mixed by Phil York assisted by Glen Pace at Autumn Sound Studios in Garland, Texas; with Tom Autry, Spike Bailey, Wayne Donowho, and Darrell A. Harris producing. All songs written by Tom Autry.
Debut LP for the Star Song label. Tom’s a keyboard guy and he boasts an impressive line-up here: Bosendorfer Piano, RMI 668X Piano, RMI Keyboard Computer, Clavinet D6, Elka 490 Strings and Mini-Korg K-2 Synthesizer. Unlike his later Blood Of The Lamb album, however, there are no real blatant space moods to speak of here, as the aim is more toward country-flavored soft rock, MOR and ballads. Very mellow, but nicely done. Lots of Jesus titles like «Jesus, I’m Glad That You Found Me», «Jesus, I Want To Give My Life To You», «Jesus, You Are The Real Live Sonshine» and «Jesus, I Want To Walk Closer To You». Players include Fletch Wiley (flute, trumpet, flugelhorn) and Al Perkins (steel guitar, lead guitar). [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
