The Imitators

Description

The self-titled debut recording by the American alternative rock band The Imitators, a four-track 45 RPM 12-inch vinyl EP, was released on Exile Records in 1984, distributed by Lexicon. The EP was produced, recorded, and mixed by label founder Gord Driver with the band co-producing.

‘The Imitators’ is a fiery four-song EP by the Imitators. Not only does it sound good, the upfront Christian lyrics are aided by a decidedly commercial attack. The band sounds a lot like The Call with just a touch of the 77s. Keyboardist Philip Mason is a real find. And at least two of the cuts, «When the Deal Goes Down» and «I Want to Walk in the Light» have serious Top 40 potential. Worth searching for. [Bob Darden, CCM, May 1985]
