As you may have heard by now, American ccm is being gripped by another craze to run alongside the Ska revival. Swing is now the thing. And just in case you imagine ‘Glen Miller Praise’ albums, I would add here that the ‘swing’ in question, though featuring the big brass riffs of the war years, also features rocking rhythms a bit in the Louis Jordan mould with enough stridency to make sense to a 1999 youth following. If you’re appalled by the idea of redoing worship classics like «More Precious Than Silver» and «As The Deer» in arrangements suitable to jive and jitterbug to, then almost certainly you also frowned on those sanctified dance worship and heavy metal praise albums of a few years back. But if you’re prepared for a fresh take on worship songs this hard riffing celebration may be the fun filled pick me up you’re looking for. [Tony Cummings, Cross Rhythms, October 1999]
