Cutting Edge is the fifth album the American rock group Sweet Comfort Band, released on Light Records in 1982. The album was recorded during July and August 1982 by Jack Joseph Puig, assisted by David Shober, at Bill Schnee Studio in North Hollywood; and during August and September 1982 by Puig, assisted by Steve Ford, at Mama Jo’s Recording Studio in North Hollywood, California; with Puig producing. Mixed by Puig at Mama Jo’s. Cover artwork by Kernie Erickson.

Sweet Comfort Band features Bryan Duncan on keyboards and vocals, Randy Thomas on guitar and vocals, Kevin Thomson on Alembic bass, and Rick Thomson on drums and vocals. Additional musicians featured on the album include John Andrew Schreiner on keyboards, Victor Feldman on percussion, John Phillips on tenor saxophone, David Hlebo on soprano saxophone, as well as Bob Carlisle on vocals.

Cutting Edge shows the band morphing into a streamlined stadium rock band in the order of Kansas, Toto and Styx. Production is slicker, keyboards are prominent and those horns from their earlier albums are completely gone.
