Real Life Conversations is the sophomore album by the American singer and songwriter Steven Curtis Chapman, released on Sparrow Records in April 1988. The album was produced by Phil Naish.

You have to reach back to the days of One Truth or The Wall Brothers to find a power-pop, harmony-laden male vocal group with the punch and kick displayed by Stephen Curtis Chapman (and friends Herb Chapman, Phil “Foghorn” Naish, and Chris Rodriguez) on ‘Real Life Conversations’, the follow-up to last year’s ‘First Hand’. Lest the causual CCM fan confuse Stephen Curtis with other famous Chapmans, this album sounds like a cross between a Tower of Power – less Lewis and Orleans, for a sound that is both fresh and exceedingly listenable.
Tunes like «Faithful, Too», with its tip of the hat to that gritty “Footloose” guitar work, and «My Turn Now», complete with acapella intro a la some of Lewis’ ‘Fore!’, may cause the listener to look for a seatbelt, such is their danceability. Ballads like «For Who He Really Is» and «His Strength Is Perfect» balance the album, and provide some time for soul searching.
One of Chapman’s favorite themes is living a life truly reflective of Christ. This excerpt from «For Who He Really Is» sums up Chapman’s message perfectly: “Nobody’s perfect, but I just want to see/ Somebody living what they say they believe/ They’ve got all this world needs, like they say/ I wonder why they won’t give some away.” «His Strength Is Perfect» asks a question we all could stand to hear: “I can do all things/ Through Christ who gives me strength/ But sometimes I wonder/ What He can do through me.”
