Description
Let the Music Move Me is an album by the American singer, songwriter, and keyboardist Stephen Alexandersen, released on White Horse Records in 1977 (as the label’s very first effort), distributed by Windy Distributor Co. The album was recorded and mixed by Mal Davis assisted by Jim Commisano at D.B. Studios in Chicago, Illinois; with Stephen Alexandersen, Gary Filip, and Davis producing. Arranged by Gary Filip except tracks A3, A5, and B3 featuring vocal arrangements by Jessy Dixon. All songs written by Stephen Alexandersen.
Instrumentation provided by Stephen Alexandersen, Gary Filip, Russ Daughtry, Jack Kelly, Gary Thompson, and Dick Lux. Background vocals by Myriad, Jessy Dixon Singers, and Thompson Community Singers. (Stephen Alexandersen would later produce James Ward’s 1979-album, Mourning to Dancing.)
When he’s hot keyboardist Stephen Alexandersen rocks persuasively, echoing the dynamic soulful spirit of Joe Cocker. The title cut, «Lyin’ Lucifer» and «Sing Unto The Lord» all qualify, Stephen’s gritty vocals gettin’ down amidst a musical brew of bangin’ piano/organ, rousing horns and gospelly background vox from Myriad, the Jessy Dixon Singers and the Thompson Community Singers. Elsewhere the CCM overtones evoke such artists as Andrae Crouch, Keith Green, James Ward and BJ Thomas. Same label as Albrecht, Roley & Moore’s Gently Flowing Feeling. As with that record, this one is also pressed on white vinyl. [Ken Scott, The Archivist]
