Make His Praise Glorious is an album by the American singer Sandi Patti, released on Word Records in 1988. Also manufactured and distributed by A&M Records. The album was produced by Greg Nelson and Sandi Patti Helvering.

Give the folks at the Helvering Agency credit. Just about the time that the Christian music industry has Sandi Patti figured out (you know, big endings, high Cs, fanfare and flourish, etc.), ‘Make His Praise Glorious’ comes along and throws a wrench in the cogs of Pattian predictability.

Tried and true Patti fans need not jump ship, however. Patti will never be mistaken for Amy Grant. And the Greg Nelson school of producing still resembles, at times, the Mecca of modulation. But Patti may find a few new fans with ‘Glorious’.

Guitarphiles will admire the tasty licks added to the hymn of the hearth, «Love Will Be Our Home». Electronic percussion freaks will stand up and take notice on the catchy «Come Let Us Worship». Those with a penchant for deceptive cadences will applaud «In His Majesty He Will Come», with its out-of-the-ordinary ending on the mediant of the diatonic scale. And jazz buffs will enjoy the scintillating brass and hip bgv’s of «Someone Up There Loves Me».

Never fear. Those with more conservative tastes will still be appeased; Patti has not forgotten from whence she’s come. «No Other Name» is a powerful Christian manifesto in the «Upon This Rock» vein, «In Heaven’s Eyes», which along with «Love Will Be Our Home», may find receptive ears outside of the Christian market, is a lovely ballad of encouragement. And the title cut, with its bouncy melodies and reflective bridge, will appeal to «Love In Any Language» lovers.

With ‘Make His Praise Glorious’, Sandi Patti and company have produced an album that just may find a spot on the shelves of a few pop/rock aficionados. And while it’s doubtful that Patti and Rez will ever hook up for a tour, ‘Glorious’ could be the first step toward unilateral enjoyment of MOR/Inspirational music by those who avoided it like brussel sprouts in the past.
