Prior to the Lord’s ministry I was involved in the secular music field looking for that “big break” in Nashville, Tennessee. Many times I came very close to “making it,” but, Someone kept me from obtaining any victory on my own because He wanted all the glory.
Music is a precious gift from the Lord and when it’s used to glorify Him it brings His peace, and love, and edification to the one who was used to write it as well as to the listener. I pray the music in this album will minister to your spirit and that the annointing of His music will cause us to be of one mind and of one Spirit with Him. Praise Him, and give Him all the glory.
I didn’t get a break … I got broken … and when I was broken and stumbling in darkness there was Only One who could see me … Only One
– Janny
[Note on the back of the LP sleeve]
One of the new faces on the burgeoning Sparrow label was singer/songwriter Janny Grein. Free Indeed introduced her mellow style through a collection of slow songs, some acoustic, some orchestrated with strings, some with gospel and light-rock touches, a few with the piano-ballad feel of Carole King. Covenant Woman contains some of her most popular songs, including «Bread On The Water» and the title track. He Made Me Worthy reveals a more rock-edged Janny on a couple of songs («Don’t Give The Devil An Opportunity», «Psalm 20»), while also leaving mild impressions of Carole King («Follow The Way Of Love», «Diamond In The Rough») and Janice Ian («Love To Me»). A lot of familiar names assisting on all of these, including 2nd Chapter Of Acts, the Talbots, Mike Deasy, Harlan Rogers, Billy Maxwell, Hadley Hockensmith, Bili Thedford, Fletch Wiley, Jessy Dixon and David Diggs.
