Marc Haney – Let Us Go to Bethlehem

Description

Let Us Go to Bethlehem, sub-titled The Simple Love Songs, is an album by the American singer and songwrtiter Marc Haney (Marc Jonathan Haney), self-released on Bride Records ‎in 1975.

“Ten simple love songs”, mostly pertaining to the period of Christ’s birth. Warm CSN harmonies against a rich tapestry of acoustic guitars (sometimes four going in tandem). Marc wrote the songs, plays guitar and sings lead, backed by a small band playing a notch or two above light rock. Servant’s Matt Spransy plays mellotron on a couple songs which doesn’t bother me a bit. Interspersed here and there with a bit of narration. ‘Shepherd’s Song’ attempts some piano-frilled r&r, but for the most part the album is quiet, simple, and heartfelt.
