Liner notes:
For far too long the idea of praise, worship and dance living side by side has been thought impossible – ungodly even. But dance has always been at the centre of human expression – just look at David, Miriam or Moses – and now, at last, the myth is being exploded.
Sanctified dance is one of the fastest growing slyles in Christian Music and, through bands like the World Wide Message Tribe and Re:Fresh, the genre is being used for more than just ‘Christian entertainment’ – in their experthands the sounds of today are being used to reach the latest generation teenagers for Christ. On a different level, projects like Jumping In The House Of God, Dance House Praise and Hymns In The House provide accessible worship songs for those with roots in the dance/club culture.
This is music to dance to. Whether at a Christian ‘rave’ or in your own home – that’s up to you. But thes artists are providing a positive alternative to what’s available elsewhere.
So enjoy this Good Music Dance Collection.
At last! Somebody’s seen the need to provide Christendom with a low-priced (£4.99 CD/£2.99 cassette) dance music sampler that could help overcome those “I wonder if this is any good” doubts that plague the sanctified dance fan in UK Christian bookshops. Filled to the brim with 16 recent and brand new tracks (so filled in fact, that several tracks have had to be edited), this is one of the best bargains in a long time. Everything from chill-out to garage, handbag house and techno is covered from bands as diverse as Hydro, Minds Of Men, Sozo and the Raving Loonatics. Two tracks even appear from some of this year’s Forefront remix singles with Rebecca St James and Geoff Moore And The Distance putting in an appearance. The World Wide Message Tribe pop up twice with «Life (Eternally)» and a “Demo Mix” of «We Don’t Get What We Deserve» which is the only mix on the CD which can’t be found elsewhere. That’s perhaps my only quibble. I would have liked to see a few more exclusives and I’m not sure that the tracks chosen are necessarily the best ones from the given albums. But those are fairly minor points and it’s perhaps worth buying just to hear the fantastic «Power In The Blood» from the ‘Hymns In The House’ album. [Dave Drodge, Cross Rhythms, December 1995]
