Description
Here We Are is the debut album by the American hip-hop group P·I·D (Preachers In Disguise), released on Graceland in 1988, distributed by Sparrow/StarSong Distribution. The album was recorded and mixed November 16 thru November 20, 1987 by Randy Adams at Future Audio in Dallas, Texas; with the group producing.
For the B-side, there is no tracklisting; instead it says: “Dis Side is the same as Dat Side ’cept it’s a supa’ def DJ mix”. In reality, the B-side contains the backing tracks used on the A-side, with the exception of “Listen to This”, which consisted of rapping and beat-boxing, and therefore had no backing track.
P.I.D., as they reveal in «What Is His Name???», are “Preachers In Disguise”, two rappers and a scratcher – a happenin’ hip-hop pun on the street sounds Michael Peace introduces to Christian audiences on his Reunion releases. Dis be rap, no doubt about it, and it doesn’t need a band of Nashville players to dig a groove you couldn’t drive your chevy through. Seven songs fill side A, speaking in down home rhymes and humorous allusions to the importance of Jesus for salvation and clean living for health. Side B, with the same seven tracks, is a “def dj mix” so fans can practice their own raps. P.I.D. has the real feel of the urban sound; authentic, down to earth and in-your-face.
