Time 2 is a compilation album by the American singer, songwriter, and guitarist Phil Keaggy, released on Myrrh Records in 1995, a division of Word. It is volume two of the two-disc retrospective Time, Time 1 being the other installment. The Time retrospective was produced and compiled by Phil Keaggy and Mark Maxwell and Volume Two includes the following previously unreleased tracks: “We’ll Meet Again” (recorded in 1967), “Heaven Is Home” (recorded in 1970), and “Shouts Of Joy” (live version). Phil Keaggy – Time 1 & 2

Phil Keaggy, storied guitar virtuoso, has been releasing Christian music for nearly 25 years. The legend of his guitar playing goes before him, often overshadowing the fact that most of his records have not been very guitar focused. ‘Time – Volume 1 and 2’ is a 35-song retrospective that includes some classic material («Love Broke Through» and a previously unreleased version of «Time») as well as some historically interesting pieces («We’ll Meet Again» 1967 and «Heaven is Home» 1970).

‘Time’ clearly demonstrates that through his ups and downs, those phases that every career goes through, Keaggy has been a consistent artist who has experimented musically but always done one thing: been true to himself. The songs that Keaggy writes for himself are often intensely personal («Ryan’s Song»), and when he record songs that others have written, he has the freedom to interpret songs that have moved him personally.

No retrospective project can ever make any true “fan” completely happy. There will always be those nuggets that there just wasn’t room for. If completeness is your goal, just purchase his entire catalog, but you’ll still need ‘Time – Volume 1 & 2’ for the rare, new material.
