Description
On the Run is the sophomore album by the American R&B/soul singer and songwriter Jon Gibson, released on Frontline Records in October 1986, distributed by The Benson Company. The album was recorded at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley and at Alan Zentz Recording in Los Angeles, California; with Jon Gibson, Bill Wolfer and Felton Pilate producing (the latter known as the producer of MC Hammer and as well was a member of the funk/R&B band Con Funk Shun).
Half of the songs (basically side two of the LP) actually were remixed versions of songs featured on Gibson’s debut Standing On The One, an album released on the mainstream label Constellation Records three years earlier. “On The Run”, “God Loves A Broken Heart”, and “Dreams” features lead guitar by then up and coming guitarist Joe Satriani. The track “God Loves A Broken Heart” actually entered the CCM charts in November 1986 and stayed for twenty weeks, peaking at No 1. On the Run was Gibson’s first of many albums released on Frontline Records, a brand new label at that time, founded by James Kempner.
