Description
Nothing is Impossible is the sophomore gospel album by the British singer, songwriter, and producer John Pantry, released in the UK on Kingsway Music in 1979. Also released in the US by StarSong Records, distributed by Word. The album was recorded by Dave Aston with John Pantry producing. Mixed by Andy Kidd.
Fun fact: The seven songs featured on side two of the album are “presented” in a fascinating way. The first song on side two has a title beginning with the letter A (“Abraham”) and on the lyric sheet every line of the lyrics for this song starts with a word on A, and the song is actually played in A Major as well. The second song on side two has a title beginning with the letter B (“Bread in the Wilderness”) and on the lyric sheet every line of the lyrics for this song starts with a word on B, and the song is actually played in B Major as well. And so it continues for all the songs featured on side two.
Similar melodic rock, pop and ballads mixture here. Some songs have a mild ‘70s FM edge ala Elton John and Billy Joel, others reflect the mellow style of fellow countryman Adrian Snell. One of the more interesting tracks is «Jesus On The Airwaves» about the lack of Christian messages on radio and TV. Old Testament themes comprise much of side two («Abraham», «Bread In The Wilderness», «Canaan»), culminating with «Final Curtain» and «Greater Is He». Polymoog used effectively on several selections. Guitars “strummed and thrashed” by Mo Witham. Distributed in the US on the StarSong label (SSR 0025). [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
