Description

The Quiet is an instrumental album by the American singer and songwriter John Michael Talbot, released on Meadowlark Records ‎in 1985, manufactured, marketed, and distributed by Sparrow Records. The album was part of the Meadowlark Series, a series of contemplative instrumental albums launched by Sparrow Records in late 1985, sub-titled “Music without words for thoughts without limits” and later ammended to “Music for your personal retreat“. The album was produced by John Michael Talbot and Phil Perkins. Orchestrated by Perkins.

If Come To The Quiet was the much-whispered-about invitation, then The Quiet is the much-anticipated event. The first all-instrumental album from one of contemporary Christian music’s most visible contemplatives: John Michael Talbot. It’s everything expected and more – even surprising the guitarist who recorded it.

“Most of my music is prayerful and meditative,” John explains. “So at first, the plan was to do all-instrumental re-makes of songs I’d already recorded.”

“But as we got into the project and the actual recording, I began to write new material expressly for the album.”

The musician who first put down the drums and picked up the guitar at age nine once again showcases the blessed dimensions of the decision – perhaps more clearly than ever.
