Freedom Flight

Description

Freedom Flight is an album by the American singer and songwriter James Sundquist, released on Lamb & Lion Records in 1977, distributed by Sparrow Records. The album was recorded at 8 Track Studio in Blue Hill, Maine; and was produced by Noel Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul & Mary fame) and James Sundquist for Street Level Productions, with production assistance by Tom Howard.

On request from Larry Norman, Sundquist included a cover of “King Of Hearts”, a song written by Randy Stonehill and recorded on his 1976 classic Welcome To Paradise. (The back side of the Freedom Flight album sleeve features the note “Special thanks to Larry Norman for all his help and encouragement.”)

Melodic lyrics, spiritual in theme, and easy flowing orchestrations highlight this LP. Sundquist plays both acoustic and electric guitar with some mellow string, flute and piano accompaniments on most tunes. Underlying most songs are overtones of religious gospels put in contemporary light. Good production by Paul Stookey. Best cuts: «Mountain Lady», «Golden Harp», «Even Though The Devil Hate Me».
