Description

The self-titled debut album by the American singer and songwriter Gary Dunham was released on NewPax Records in 1980, distributed by Word. The album was recorded by Mike Psanos, Warren Peterson, and Brent King at Sound Stage Studios in Nashville, Tennessee; with Randy Cox producing. Mixed by Psanos at Sound Stage Studios. Strings arranged by Shane Keister. Horns arranged by Don Hart. All songs co-written by Gary and Rosemary Dunham.

Gary Dunham was included among CCM Magazine’s Top 10 Albums of 1980. The album track “Happy Family” was among the Top Five Songs of 1981, listed as number 3 according to CCM Magazine.

One listen to this album will tell you that something very good has happened in Gary Dunham’s life, a point he conveys with effervescence and eloquence. Happy Family is the debut album from Dunham, who co-wrote each of the songs with his wife, Rosemary. Their songs communicate their love and gratefulness to Jesus with sensitivity and warmth. Gary has a pleasant voice which fits the mellow music like a glove.

Happy Family was recorded in Nashville with some of “Music City’s” fine session players under the watchful eye of producer Randy Cox.
