Fresh Air

Description

The self-titled, sole studio album by the British pop group Fresh Air was released on Marshalls in 1982. (Marshalls by now had taken over the Pilgrim and Grapevine labels and John Pac of Parchment fame was in the job which led to him eventually running Kingsway.) Also released in the US by Pilgrim American the following year, distributed by The Benson Company. The album was recorded December 1981 – January 1982 by David Aston and Neil Costello at ICC Studios in Eastbourne, England; with John Pantry producing. (Backing vocals recorded at Chapel Lane Studios.) Mixed by Paul Cobbold at Chapel Lane Studios in Hereford, England. Musical arrangements by Chris Norton. Vocal arrangements by Dave Buckley and Chris Norton. All songs written by John Pantry except “Flying Blind” written by Chris Norton and Ricky Everett.

The group brought together the vocal talents of several veteran musicians from the British contemporary Christian music scene like singer-songwriter Phil Potter, Sue McClellan of Parchment fame, Steve Buckley, Donna Carey-Owen, Julie Costello (née Moon, later of Trade Secret fame), as well as singer, songwriter, and producer John Pantry.

The album track “Love Letter” was featured on the multi-artist compilation The British Are Coming released on Pilgrim America in 1983. After releasing their studio album John Pantry and Fresh Air actually went on a US tour. Fresh Air is also featured on John Pantry’s live album Hot Coals released on Marshalls in 1981, and re-issued on Pilgrim America in the US in 1983, re-titled Not Guilty: Live with Fresh Air and featuring new cover artwork.
