You Can’t Disguise Religion

Description

You Can’t Disguise Religion is the gospel debut album by the American singer Frank Starr (a.k.a. Andy Starr – born Franklin Delano Gulledge; October 21, 1932 – September 12, 2003) with the Wilson-McKinley Jesus Rock Band and Niel Livingston, independently released on his own label Starr Records in 1972.

Frank Starr, now an ordained minister, was formerly a rock and roll star on some of the top labals in the U.S.A., including MGM and Kapp. In looks and personality, he reminds you of Elvis Presley. In fact, during a disc jockey convention in Nashville, Tennessee, in the late 1950’s, he was mistaken for Elvis and literally mobbed in the lobby of the Andrew Jackson Hotel by hundreds of young people.

Although many of his early recordings were commercially successful, he never had a real big hit record in the top 100. Of his earty career, Frank says it was despairing and full of disappointments. “Satan knew right where I was living. I had fallen his victim for sure.” But a few years ago, Jesus Christ came into his life and changed his career. “l heard the pleading voice of the Savior, come, I want you to preach my Gospel.” Now Frank has a very successful ministry in the Pacific northwest. In word and song, he brings the glorious good news of the Bible to many thousands.

This is the first gospel album recording that Frank Starr has made. His selection of songs is very contemporary – and many have messages, of lasting value. Backing the artist in the session is one of the top Jesus Rock bands in the Pacific northwest – Wilson McKinley. Also, guitarist Niel Livingston is featured. The session was recorded at Sound Recording Studios, Spokane, Washington, with Irene Carter as engineer. [Note on the back of the LP sleeve]
