Description

Girls & Boys is the third and final album by the American indie-rock/ska band Flight 180 (a.k.a. One Eighty), released on BEC Recordings in February 2001, a division of Tooth & Nail Records. The album was produced, recorded, and mixed by Darren Grahn at Greenhouse Studios in Vancouver, Canada, with the band co-producing. Arranged by the band. All songs written by Kim Tennberg except track 1 (co-written by Kim Tennberg, Jamin Boggs, and Dave DesArmier), track 3 (co-written by Kim Tennberg and Madelyn Mendoza), track 10 (co-written by Josh Brisby and Chris Keller), and track 14 (co-written by Jamin Boggs and Dave DesArmier).

Flight 180 is Kim Tennberg on vocals and trumpet, Josh Brisby on trombone, Chris Tennberg on guitar, and Jamin Boggs on drums. The album also features Madelyn Mendoza on additional vocals, Chris Keller on bass, Greg Whitbeck providing “guitar colors” on selected songs, Neil Sutherland providing keyboards on selected songs, and Dirty Al Black providing percussion on selected songs.

Flight 180 are like Blink 182 and no doubt rolled into one with a little bit of ska added for good measure. This is nothing groundbreaking or new but they do the whole pop punk thing very well. It has some great positive and uplifting pop punk tunes on it The best song is definitely «In The Mist», talking about God’s forgiveness, and «Superhero» is a standout track. Most of the tracks stick to the same fast formula, only slowing the pace down a bit on tracks like «Miserable» and «Last Tuesday». This is great if you’re into the whole ska/punk scene.
