Description
Velvet & Steel is the fifth gospel album by the American singer and songwriter Dion DiMucci of Dion & the Belmonts fame, released on Dayspring Records in 1986, a division of Word. Also manufactured and distributed by A&M Records. The album was recorded by JB Baird at The Bennett House in Franklin and at Gold Mine Studio and Bullet Recording in Nashville, Tennessee; with Neal Joseph producing. Mixed at The Castle Recording Studios in Franklin. Tracks arranged by Smitty Price and Neal Joseph. Horns arranged by Chris McDonald.
Featuring a session band with Smitty Price on keyboards, Billy Crockett and Dion on acoustic guitars, Gordon Kennedy and Jon Goin on electric guitars, and a rhythm section consisting of bassist Gary Lunn and drummer Mark Hammond. 9 of the tracks were written or co-written by Dion DiMucci, including “You Need A Love” co-written with Pierce Pettis.
