Let Me Have a Dream

Description

Let Me Have a Dream is the fourth solo album by the American gospel singer and songwriter Danniebelle Hall of Andraé Crouch & The Disciples fame, released on Sparrow Records in 1977. The album was produced by Bill Maxwell and arranged by Harlan Rogers. Half of the songs were written by Danniebelle Hall. Also featuring a couple of songs by Harlan Rogers (“Let Me Have A Dream” and “It’s Freedom”) as well as “You’re The Only One” co-written by Andraé Crouch and Keith Green.

Between 1974 and 1976 Danniebelle Hall (October 6, 1938 – December 28, 2000) released three solo albums on Light Records before moving to Sparrow Records in 1977. In the Gospel section of the June 4, 1977 issue of Billboard Magazine, it was stated that “Sparrow has acquired the fine talent of Danniebelle Hall on a multi-year contract. Danniebelle is a former member of the Disciples of Andrae Crouch. The contract signing coincides with her decision to begin a solo concert appearance schedule. A national tour and overseas tour to Australia have been confirmed.”

Trivia: Danniebelle Hall would become the first Afro-American woman nominated in the Song of the Year category in the Gospel Music Association’s Dove Awards for her 1977 composition, “Ordinary People.”
