The Lord Will Make a Way

Description

The Lord Will Make a Way is an album by the American soul singer and songwriter Al Green, released on Hi Records in 1980, manufactured and distributed by Myrrh Records, a division of Word. The album was recorded at American Music Recording Studios in Memphis, Tennessee; with Al Green producing for Hi Records. Strings arranged by Fred Jordan.

That classic Al Green sound is back. Released on Myrrh through Hi Records, ‘The Lord Will Make A Way’ is Green’s first fully gospel effort.

Similar in sound and production quality to his previous LP, The Belle Album, this disc showcases one of the most soulful singers of our day doing what he does best – singing about the Lord. Green’s sparse production gives the album a raw, spontaneous feel and plenty of energy.

This assemblage of traditional gospel tunes («Pass Me Not», «Highway to Heaven», «None But the Righteous») plus songs by Aaron Purdie and Alex Bradford will appeal to fans of contemporary and black gospel.

(Best cuts: «Saved», «The Lord Will Make A Way», and «Pass Me Not».) [CCM (What’s New), January 1981]
