Frozen Rivers [7-inch single]

Description

Frozen Rivers is a 7-inch vinyl single by the British new wave band After The Fire, released on CBS Records September 11, 1981 (catalogue number EPC A1613). The title track was taken from the band’s up-coming full-length album Batteries Not Included released on CBS in March the following year, recorded at Musicland Studios in Munich, Germany; with Mack (a.k.a. Reinhold Mack) producing. The flip-side is a live track recorded 14th November 1980 at the Rainbow Theatre in London (“Starflight”, a song originally featured on the band’s 1980-album, 80-f.) Both tracks co-written by band members Andy Piercy and Peter ”Memory” Banks.

“Dancing In The Shadows” (b/w “Nobody Else But You”), another track from After The Fire’s up-coming full-length album had been released July 3, 1981 (catalogue number EPC A1378), and a third and final single from Batteries Not Included, “Rich Boys” (b/w “One Rule For You”), was released in March 1982 (catalogue number CBSA 1951).

Note: “Frozen Rivers” was simultaneously released as a 45 RPM 12-inch vinyl single (catalogue number EPC A 13 1613), featuring two tracks on the flip-side (33 1/3 RPM); “Starflight” (same track as featured on the 7-inch) and the bonus track “Take Me Higher” (both tracks recorded live at the Rainbow, 14th November 1980). All three tracks were later included on the double disc compilation Der Kommissar: The CBS Recordings released in 2005.
