The Restorer

Description

The Restorer is the sophomore album by the British singer and songwriter Phil Potter, released on Dovetail Records in 1978, under license from Concorde Productions. The album was produced, recorded, and mixed by John Pantry at Maranatha! Studios in Santa Ana, California.

Very pleasant follow-up with a relaxed melodic pop-edged acoustic sound reminiscent of Al Stewart. Simple arrangements usually led by Phil Potter’s acoustic guitar, plus soft touches of synthesizer, piano and electric guitar, no strings or horns. Lighthearted playful bluesy moods on «Down At The Local» and «Tell Him». Also a couple personal reflections in «Helen» (a song to his goddaughter and niece) and «Song For Roy» (a prayer to an unsaved friend). Jazzy saxophone on the closing «Loving You». Recorded at Maranatha! Studios in Santa Ana, California. I see Dennis Holt, Graham Kendrick and John Pantry in the credits. Nice cover art. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
