Description
Rhythms of Tomorrow is an album by the American singer and songwriter Chuckie Perez, released on Diadem Music Group in 1996, distributed by Benson Music Distribution. The album was produced by Bill Ancira.
After five years as a dance/pop maven Christian music, 26-year-old Chuckie Perez has decided to grow up – right into the adult contemporary category with ‘Rhythms of Tomorrow’.
Those who caught Perez’s dance release will be surprised by this project. There’s hardly a trace of that music-ta-make-ya-move style of ‘Rhythms’. Although it may be true that Perez was better at creating dance music, he does a credible job with his first foray into the adult contemporary genre.
The hopeful message of the title song leads off the album and sets the tone for what’s to come. The lyrically inspiring song, «The Church Moves On» as well as the percolating tune «Power» stand out from the rest of the album, creating vivid mental images and interesting music. The only real mistake on this album is the poorly attempted remake of Foreigner’s mainstream hit, «I Wanna Know What Love Is».
Fans of Perez’s previous efforts may be unhappy with ‘Rhythms of Tomorrow’. But his “grown-up” style is good enough to attract new listeners looking for another adult contemporary artist to pop into their CD players. [Mike Nappa, CCM, June 1996]
