Description
Lamentations, sub-titled Simple Songs of Lament and Hope, Volume 1, is a multi-artist compilation released in March 2016 on Bifrost Arts Music. The album was produced by Isaac Wardell and John Athayde.
This Bifrost Arts compilation was preceded by Come Oh Spirit! Anthology of Hymns and Spiritual Songs, Volume 1 and He Will Not Cry Out: Anthology of Hymns and Spiritual Songs, Volume 2, as well as a Christmas album entitled Salvation Is Created.
Bifrost Arts from New Jersey have an unusual approach to worship music and I love ‘Lamentations” natural feel. I really like the intro to «Rise Up» but my favourite track is «Break Us» with the words reflecting a real desperation to have God impact people’s lives. There are some great harmonies here making it a really moving song. «Come Light» is another one of the tracks that I really engaged with, again having a wistful simplicity but this time with a Celtic feel. For anyone who likes a laid back album with lyrics that include the Gospel, justice and hope all conveyed with a relaxed, ambient feel, this is a 2016 project you may well want to search out.
