Description
It’s For You is the fourth studio album by the British singer, songwriter, and producer John Pantry, independently released in the UK on his own label Ears & Eyes in 1983. The album was recorded during June and July 1983 by Mick Robson, Rob Andrews, and Simaen Skolfield at Ric-Rac Sound Studios in Leeds, at Chapel Lane Studios in Hereford, and at West 3 Studio in London, England; with John Pantry, Les Moir, and Christopher Norton producing.
In 1983 John Pantry formed the record company Ears & Eyes Records with entrepreneur Kevin Hoy whose management company Music Creations had arranged the tour which sourced Pantry’s album Hot Coals released in 1981. Starting with a Phil Potter album, Ears & Eyes quickly broke into its stride with a series of albums by such fledgling British acts as Martyn Joseph, Nia, Shirley Novak, Triumph and Zero Option. Ears & Eyes also released Pantry’s own albums It’s For You (1983), Discovery (1984), Simple Sailing for Beginners (1986) and Breaking New Ground (1988). (Though after an exposé in Private Eye magazine detailed Kevin Hoy forging Gloria Gaynor’s signature to secure a BBC contract and Hoy leaving Australia with thousands of dollars of unpaid bills Ears & Eyes crashed in ignominy in 1989.)
