Description
Patterns is the sophomore album by the American folk singer and songwriter Linda Rich, released on InterVarsity Records in 1970. Accompaniment by Ron Steele and associates.
“Kaleidoscopic colors melt into me, reflected by window pane imagery, in rain-formed mirrors of reality, a riddle posed that has no key.” That’s just one of many poetic lines housed inside Linda’s second album. Patterns presents thirteen more songs in the same warm honest acoustic style of her first album. Her moods vary from cheerful to bittersweet to melancholy, stirringly expressed through titles such as «I Wander Down Dark Avenues», «Misty», «Foam And Sand», «Agnostic’s Prayer», «Gold Paisley», «Tired» and «Do You Ever Wonder?». Several songs are gracefully decorated with flute. Vibes, marimba and violins also make appearances. The back cover sums it up well, stating how Linda’s voice “carries the big questions of life into song, then rejoices at the answers that begin to come”. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th Edition]
