For a Time Like This is the tenth studio album by the British singer Sheila Walsh, released by StarSong Records in 1991. The album was produced by Paul Mills and Jerry McPherson.

Sheila Walsh’s nearly decade-old music career has been as wide as it has been deep. The depth comes from the insightful songs she has recorded; the width from the variety of styles she’s sung.

Her introduction to the U.S. saw an edgy performer of quirky New Wave music, which gradually grew into a more serious pop-rock style (many consider ‘Shadowlands‘ to be her pinnacle). With Sandi Patti‘s producer at the helm, Walsh then adopted an inspirational sound, for her last two albums, including a collection of hymns. One thing remained the same throughout – impassioned performances and emotional vocals.

With a new record company and a pair of new producers (Paul Mills and Jerry McPherson), Walsh takes somewhat of a u-turn back to a sophisticated pop approach with ‘A Time Like This’. The singer has turned songwriter for the album, resulting in a new-found intensity in her music and sensitivity in her lyrics.

«Heaven is Holding Us Now», the albums first single, has a intensive but catchy melody that captures some anxieties many Christians feel today: “I feel so helpless, Lord/ When friends come to my door/ Do I have the answers they are looking for/ I don’t know, but I believe/ Heaven is holding us now.” This song also introduces an instrument heard periodically throughout the album but not oft heard in Christian music: bagpipes. This Celtic influence works surprisingly well. Other highlights on the album include a moving duet with Michael English on «When Love Comes Home» and with Russ Taff on «A Dove Amongst Eagles». «The Third Cross» is a stirring picture of grace extended to the thief on the cross.
