Description
Song of Solomon is an album by the American singer and songwriter Pete Giardina, independently released on Music Mountain Records in 1975.
Exceptional unknown custom recorded of dreamy progressive soft rock. The 12-minute (yeow!) title track takes its theme from the Biblical book of the same name, opening with the sound of seagulls and crashing waves before surrounding Giardina’s guitar and vocals with a lush array of keyboards, including lots of floating mellotron, plus organ, synthesizer and piano. Similar etheal moods with the same guitar/keyboard mix are explored on gentle moving ballads like «Darkness Before The Dawn», «Christ Of Galilee», «Billows And Waves» and «One More Mile To Og», some of which would feel right at home on an Arkangel album. In the more upbeat category are «Never Alone» (with rocking electric guitar) and the knee-slapping pedal-steel-twangin’ «Dance Song» (which borrows some of the lyrics from «Lord Of The Dance»). A product of Christ Gospel Church, Jeffersonville, Indiana. Beautiful cover illustration of a man and woman’s profiles against a background of ocean, sun and clouds. A very special work that’s one of the tops for the style. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th Edition]

BIOGRAPHY
Peter Giardina (Jar-dee-nah) received his musical influence from a father who was a New Orleans jazz and ragtime pianist. As time passed, his dad moved to Dallas, married and had nine children. Peter, the youngest, soon found himself behind the piano. The “real” inspiration to perform music however, came later from the “British Invasion” and the Beatles. At age 13, he learned to play drums from a student of the famous drummer, Gene Kruppa. Peter became the “Ringo” of his early “combos”. Peter and Keane share a musical history that began in high school. Peter went on to play drums and sing for other groups including the Jimmy Miller Band, brother of the legendary Steve Miller Band, for four years. Peter also played drums for the original guitarist of Fleetwood Mac, Jeremy Spencer, who quit Fleetwood Mac and formed a group in California called the L A Band. Inspired by the love of music, he soon became an accomplished guitarist, keyboardist and prolific songwriter. Eventually he took a different path, performing spiritually inspired music on guitar and keyboard and had one of the first Christian rock bands in Dallas at the time. Peter has recently decided to focus on the acoustic guitar, although he still creates many instrumental solo albums on the keyboard. He plays the acoustic guitar using a thumb pick and unusual tunings, giving him a totally unique and remarkably full sounding style. His main focus now is on the dynamic 3-piece 3R1 Band. Keane and Jimmy are experienced musicians and have, with Peter’s unusual style, created a solid, innovative and crowd pleasing trio.
