Description
From This Day On is an album by the American singer and songwriter Al Denson, released on Spring Hill in 2000, distributed by Chordant Distribution. The album was recorded by Gary Dales with Robert White Johnson producing. Mixed by Dales and Johnson.
One of the many figures in American CCM who has gained considerable popularity in the US yet, because he’s never played in the UK, is unknown to most Brits. Maybe that will change for this comeback album for Bill Gaither’s record company is very accessible, nicely produced CCM pop. Al Denson lives somewhere between Michael W Smith Avenue and Gary Chapman Road, perhaps just round the corner from Gary Barlow Cul-de-sac. The reason I say Gary Barlow is that the production and arrangements are in the same, harmonically attractive vein. However the songs are not as obviously aimed at the “exactly three and a half minutes or we won’t play it” genre and a bit more sensitive to going where the song, and the Spirit, leads. Standing out from the throng are the opening track «This Is Love» which lays all cards on the table both lyrically and musically, «Say The Name» is an infectious, all out, souped-up gospel track, and «I Will» which shows you just how good this man’s songwriting and vocal skills are. I really like this album, nice packaging, great music, top product! Just don’t go too far up the Cul-de-sac Al… [Tim Roberts, Cross Rhythms, August 2000]
