Description
Three is an album by the American rock band The Corbans, released on Organic Records in 1997, a Pamplin Music label, manufactured and distributed by Pamplin Music Distribution. The album was produced by Ken Mary and the band.
From the word go this Arizona-based three piece lay it on the line why they have released this album: “I’m called to serve my God,” urges the opener «Claim». And this bold proclamation of Christ’s call on their lives is consistent throughout. «Strength» tells the listener that “redemption is found in the blood of the Lord” and «The Only Thing Real» testifies that the cross is…well…the only thing real. Using the familiar line up of bass, drums and driving guitar. The Corbans lean towards the grunge end of the musical spectrum. The album is slightly under produced which despite playing down their obvious energy (perhaps a great band live?) makes lyricist Wade Myer’s vocals very clear and further promotes the message of each song. To sum up, ‘Three’ is a clear-cut call to the lost to accept the Song of God through a musical genre acceptable to them. One point, though, did we really need a backwards message at the end when everything has previously been so succinctly said forwards? [Lins Honeyman, Cross Rhythms, February 1998]
