Description
Unnoticed is an album by the American singer, songwriter, and drummer Jesse Sprinkle of Poor Old Lu fame, independently released on Blind Records in 2005.
Jesse Sprinkle is maybe not a name you’ll instantly recognise but he is no stranger to US Christian music circles having performed with such artists such as Dead Poetic, Demon Hunter and Kutless and being, with brother Aaron, a one-time member of cult-following rockers Poor Old Lu. This, Jesse’s first solo project, is an interesting arrangement of acoustic rock. Think Sixpence None The Richer kind of grooves with lots of samples, which at times can be a bit overpowering. Jesse’s talents are all to see on this album; clever guitar handiwork is backed up by gifted drumming, which shows clear evidence as to why he has been requested to work on so many other projects. The album, although well produced, lacks a cutting edge and provides no real standout track or the required melodic hooks needed to earn a new audience but overall provides the listener with a thoughtful insight into this artist’s feelings. The inlay gives one of the longest “thanks” lists I’ve ever seen but unfortunately provides no lyrics, which at times can be a touch hard to make out. All in all, an album worth a look if acoustic-based rock is your thing. [Aaron Ferris, Cross Rhythms, July 2005]
