Description
Sleepy-Head is the fourth album by the American alternative rock band Room Full Of Walters, independently released on Mercy Records in 1996. Re-issued by Word in 1997 featuring new cover artwork, manufactured and distributed by Word Records. The album was produced by the Walters and Robert Rebeck.
Room Full Of Walters features Jamie Woodson on lead vocals and guitar; Mark Scheltgen on guitar and backing vocals; Kurt Starks on bass; and Alan Austin on drums and backing vocals.
The interestingly named Room Full Of Walters unleash the latest in a long line of alternative rock releases in the USA, and this time the band combine unique lyrics (check out «Pete’s A Rocket Scientist» if you want the proof!) with a ’70s new wave/’90s alternative rock approach, including a sub Costello vocal delivery! (See «Face» where they sound more Elvis than even Grover Levy has managed!) Much more than mere run of the mill, RFOW stand out from the crowd by tackling life from new perspectives. «Jeffrey Dahmer Went To Heaven» looks at redemption, forgiveness and the sovereign act of God, to work how He wants, even if we think it’s unfair! There’s a definite sense of humour here illustrated by the ragtime reprise of «Laughing At The Ground»; «Knees» and its false ending is a song about prayer; and «That’s Not What It’s All About» which is a thumping indictment of bad evangelistic styles! «What’s Up With You» is an energetic musical attack on the motivation for our actions. One richly bizarre fact is that the title song sounds like a late Beatles acoustic work out! Full of surprises, but then that’s what you get when you walk into a Room Full Of Walters! [Mike Rimmer, CCM, December 1997]
