Description
B Collision is a mini-album – and the seventh effort overall – by the American contemporary worship combo David Crowder Band, released on sixstepsrecords/Sparrow Records in 2006, manufactured by EMI CMG Label Group, distributed in the US by EMI CMG Distribution. All Tracks performed and recorded at The Barn Behind Crowder’s House, except “Be Lifted” and “I Saw The Light” recorded live in Kansas on the A Collision Tour 2005. Mixed by Shane D. Wilson at Pentavarit in Nashville, Tennessee.
A bit of a split personality is evident here. It starts as a selection of songs from ‘A Collision’ but with the songs given more air in the arrangement. Then out of the blue it swaps to a live recording, back to full band and so on. Now don’t get me wrong, both are worth a listen but why put them together? They don’t really fit. So taking one part at a time; the stripped renditions of songs on ‘A Collision‘ are very much based around vocals and guitar with a feeling a bit like those acoustic interludes that Kevin Prosch is keen on. However, somehow they couldn’t quite resist the technology with some treated vocals on «I Can Hear The Angles Singing» as a good example. So onto the live section which because it’s only two songs does seem like a bit of a make weight, but anyway. One thing to watch for is that it will certainly wake you up if the previous half has got you all relaxed and snuggly. It may start a bit slow with «Be Lifted» but then proceeds to whip itself up into a bluegrass storm with «I Saw The Light» – full on banjo and fiddle solos.
