Description
Solo Piano is the sophomore instrumental solo album by the American singer, songwriter, keyboardist, and arranger Tom Howard, released on Maranatha! Music in 1987, distributed by both Word and A&M Records. Released as a part of Maranatha’s Colours Instrumental Series. The album was recorded March 1987 by Wally Grant “Direct-to-Two-Track” at Mad Hatter Studios in Los Angeles, California; and was produced and performed by Tom Howard.
I was honored to be the engineer on this project. Many people don’t realize that this album was recorded straight to a 2 track tape machine, meaning these songs were live performances no editing. It was recorded at Chick Corea’s studio on his 2 pianos, a 9’ Steinway and a 9’ Bosendorfer. [Wally Grant, July 2020]
